Flashback Friday: April Flowers, Festivals, and Fun!

This season has been packed with a variety of exciting events all around Los Angeles, from Artisanal LA and USC's Night Market to the Run For Hope and Victoria Secret Angel Oasis. You may have spotted our coconut bowl at your local magazine stand on the cover of Los Angeles Magazine, or perhaps on your Instagram feed from #Coachella as well as Laura Iz's blog. Today we're taking a moment to flashback to some of the best from April!

Victoria Secret Angel Oasis at Coachella

During #Weekend1 of Coachella we were invited to be a part of the Angel Oasis party where we served our coconut bowl to the VS Angels as a post-yoga treat! Martha Hunt and Josephine Skriver were amongst the many who got a taste of Amazebowls by the pool under desert palm trees.

Nothing says #Coachella like acai bowls, flowers, and unicorns! Thank you to Victoria Secret for inviting us to take part in such a colorful festival weekend.

#JoeyIz1 Birthday Bash

Joey Iz became an internet sensation last summer when her mother Laura Iz shared a series of pop icon parody photos on Instagram. In April, her adorable star turned 1 year old and to celebrate the big occasion, Laura hosted a huge birthday bash complete with coffee, cupcakes, and - of course - coconut bowls! We loved serving our most Instagramm-a-bowl treat in honor of this Instagrammable baby and were thrilled to serve alongside other fantastic vendors like Popdup+ and Merely Sweets.

Thank you to Laura for including us in Joey's big day and special thanks to Megan Welker for capturing these photos! For more on the birthday party, check out Laura's post recapping the day.

Summer is just around the corner and we can't wait to announce more events and new treats coming to our menu soon! You can stay tuned to our updates and announcements here on the blog as well as on Facebook and Instagram

March-ing into Spring: Where We've Been

This month, we kicked off the spring season with a whole lot of new! - New events, new people and new places! Our Purple Truck visited The Broad museum in DTLA as well as Runyon Canyon in Hollywood, where we got to feed art-lovers and fuel weekend hikers!  Additionally, we spent each weekend of this month at new spots around the city and took part in events packed with curious foodies, energetic athletes and beautiful vendors. Here are some of the highlights:

Saturday Smorgasburg at Santa Monica

As you may already know, Amazebowls takes part in Smorgasburg LA at the Arts District every Sunday alongside dozens of other local food and craft vendors. On March 11th, we participated in a pop-up event at the Santa Monica Pier hosted by Smorgasburg, where we had the chance to do what we love in a brand new atmosphere. We were set up in the heart of the pier where hundreds of tourists and local beach-goers stopped by to try our coconut bowls. Though it was a foggy day on the coast, there’s still no better place for an açai bowl than the beach!

Shout out to Casey & Lindsey from Miami, Florida for coming out to Santa Monica just to taste our bowls - we loved meeting and serving you!

Lululemon Athletica x LA Marathon

On Sunday, March 19th, over 20,000 athletes from all around the country and from abroad gathered in LA to take part in the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon. The runners started bright and early at Dodger Stadium and made their way through Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and West LA to finish at Santa Monica Pier.

At the 22 mile mark, Lululemon Athletica hosted a cheer station, where dozens of people gathered to show support for the runners in their final stretch of the marathon. We loved meeting all those who came out to participate at the cheer station and were proud to fuel the supporters with our snack-size Amazebowls.

The highlight of this event was witnessing the runners and supporters feed off each others' high energy and great vibes. Being surrounded by positive, supportive, and active people is what we love most about what we do! For more highlights from this event, check out this short video recap on our Instagram!

The CREAM Event

We wrapped up a month full of fun events with a big bang  at The Cream on March 26th. This expo event which takes place once a year in Los Angeles was set at the stunning Cooper Design Space in downtown and is a curated showcase of the most innovative people and vendors working in weddings. We were honored to be selected as one of the top thirty industry purveyors who are this year's “cream of the crop."

The evening was filled with confetti, cocktails, couples and, of course, coconut bowls! Not only did we serve our classic coconuts to the five hundred attendees, we also introduced a brand new item - the Sangria Bowl!

Served in a young coconut and topped with freshly-made coconut whipped cream, the Sangria Bowl is a mix of our Amazebowl original blend and ~ Pinot Noir ~  This cocktail hour-inspired bowl was a huge hit throughout the evening and is one of many new items we're introducing this spring. We’re always on the lookout to try unique things and this sangria twist was a lot of fun to serve up! Thank you to The Cream for inviting us to be a part of such a unique and spectacularly designed event.

We're looking forward to more sunlight, more heat, and more fun in the next month. We can't wait to see what the rest of this season has in store for us! As always, you can keep up with what we're doing by following our social pages

P.S. If you missed the big news - we're featured on the current cover of Los Angeles Magazine. Head to your local bookstore or Whole Foods to grab a copy while they're still available!

We're On Los Angeles Magazine: April 2017!

We're stoked to announce that this month we've been featured on the cover of Los Angeles Magazine!

Since our Purple Truck opened on USC's campus three years ago, our goal has always been to serve up the best bowls and bring positive, healthy changes to the food scene in LA. In addition to opening two stores in Venice & the Arts District last year, we've also become a Smorgasburg LA vendor and partnered with several awesome brands around the city.

Seeing our coconut bowl featured on the cover of a prominent LA publication lets us know that we're headed in the right direction so far. We're thrilled to be recognized for our hard work and want to thank Los Angeles Mag for spreading the word on what we do best! We look forward to meeting new faces and as always will strive to create positive experiences for our customers and a lasting impact on the city one bowl at a time.

Fruit-full & Fun-filled February: Where We've Been

In addition to launching a line of delicious new products at our stores last month ( - have you tried our selection of matcha drinks and La Colombe coffee?), Amazebowls got to be a part of several exciting experiences throughout February. We had the opportunity to meet and serve so many new people and were proud to work with other awesome brands around LA including SoulCycle, Adidas and POPSUGAR. Here’s a glimpse at what we’ve been up to this month!

SoulCycle WEHO Turns 5!

On February 11th, SoulCycle celebrated its fifth anniversary in West Hollywood. To kick off the morning, we served our Adorabowls to all those who came out to cycle. These snack-size cups were the perfect fuel for a weekend workout and helped pump up the staff and instructors too!

We loved seeing the energy that all the staff and cyclers brought that day and were thrilled to be a part of making SoulCycle's big occasion a memorable one. Congratulations on five years in WEHO!

The Potluck Conference

On February 20th & 21st, professionals from the hospitality industry gathered from all around the world to attend the Potluck Conference in downtown LA. This two-day forum took place in the beautiful Hudson Loft, where industry leaders had the chance to meet and share their knowledge with one another.

On Day 2, Amazebowls was first on the agenda! Before everyone jumped into a full day of workshops, we served our coconut bowls to all the conference attendees first thing in the morning. It was a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase how we love bringing our best to the table while sharing a fruity breakfast with some awesome people.

Our favorite part of the conference was having the chance to meet other vendors, chefs, designers, wedding planners, and industry leaders from cities like Portland, Sydney, and New York! Thank you to the Potluck Conference for allowing us to be a part of this experience!

#HeretoCreate by Adidas x POPSUGAR

DSC_0084.jpg

At the end of February, Adidas and POPSUGAR hosted a collaboration event to celebrate their #HeretoCreate campaign. Over a thousand people came out to Griffith Park where they got to follow a half mile trail lined with a variety of art installations promoting the message to "Unleash your creativity and make a real difference!" In addition to the art, DJs, and photo booths, Amazebowls was invited to be a part of the event and serve our bowls to those who came out. We loved being involved in such a fun and inspiring campaign as well as getting to meet other active lifestyle and art lovers - thank you to Adidas and POPSUGAR for having us!

We had such a blast through February and are looking forward to more big events, new brands, and awesome people we get to meet and serve! You can check in with us here on the blog, our Pinterest, and our Instagram to keep up with the amazing things we're doing.

A Latte of Exciting New Drinks

Coffee & açai lovers unite! We’re thrilled to announce that Amazebowls is now serving, east coast coffee roasters - La Colombe - to bring you their signature cold brew and draft lattes. La Colombe has an established presence in major cities like Philadelphia, New York, and Chicago and is now gradually making its way to California. In the next year, they’ll be opening a few cafes in locations around LA including Santa Monica and Beverly Hills, but in the meantime we’re proud to be one of the first vendors to offer their products on the west coast!

Their line of canned coffees includes a selection of four different draft lattes and one pure black cold brew. Unlike your typical bottle of cold brew, La Colombe’s beverages come in a unique InnoValve can which allows nitrous oxide to produce a fresh layer of sweet and frothy foam when poured.

  • The Pure Black: A cold-pressed, double-filtered, pure iced coffee with rich cocoa flavors and a double dose of caffeine to freshen up your day

  • The Draft Latte: A delicious mix of cold-pressed espresso and nutrient-rich milk topped off with silky foam for a complete latte experience

  • Triple Draft Latte: Made with three shots of cold-pressed espresso, lactose-free milk and a touch of sugar, this one is ideal for a strong caffeine kick!

  • Mocha Draft Latte: A draft latte rich with real cocoa that pairs perfectly with the nutty, honey-sweet flavor of their medium-roast blend

  • Vanilla Draft Latte: A draft latte flavored with natural vanilla, maple, and a pinch of cane sugar for a sweet treat

These cafe-style drinks are available now at all our locations and sell for $4.50 each. Whether you’re a cold brew fanatic, procaffeinating student, or just in need of a pick-me up, we’ve got a latte for you to choose from. Next time you’re in for a bowl, be sure to grab a can!

Available at Venice, Arts District, and The Purple Truck.

Grand Opening Party!

On July 23rd, we hosted our first ever store grand opening. To say we were overwhelmed with the love and support from our community, friends, family, and Amazebowls, would be an understatement. We're grateful for people who drove, took time out of their Saturday, helped us raise money for Chrysalis, waited in line (in the heat, nonetheless) and brought their friends.

Thank you to Insta Party Box for providing snapshots of our event to our guests. Thank you to Reinna from Christian & Reinna for capturing our big day (we can't wait to see it).

We're so thrilled to be a part of this new community in the Arts District and look forward to serving you all. Thank you!

Love, The Amazebowls Team

The Shift Creative

We were excited to provide coconut açaí bowls for The Shift Creative! Little did we know, Alexis from The Shift Creative put on one of the cutest 3rd birthday party ever for sweet little Soph, that made all of us 20-somethings jealous!

The party was flamingo/summer themed, and the coconut acai bowl fit perfectly! We love when individuals of all ages enjoy our bowl. Our favorite moment that day is when we had a cute little kid come to us at the party and say, "That was the best dinner I've ever had!"

Thank you to Alexis for thinking of us for your daughter's birthday party! Your talent, decor and balloon installation blew us away!

Amazebowls is at Smorgasburg LA!

It's here, it's finally here! When some of us on the team went to visit Brooklyn, NY a few years ago, we had to make a stop at the Smorgasburg market everyone kept telling us about. The entire time we scrolled past the unique dishes and fragrant smells, we couldn't stop thinking, "Why don't we have a market like this in LA?"

Fast forward a few years, we couldn't contain our excitement when they announced they were creating a Smorgasburg market in LA and that Amazebowls would be a part of it!

So, we're excited to announce that Amazebowls will be at Smorgasburg every Sunday from 10am - 6pm at the Alameda Produce Market in Downtown Los Angeles. Also, guess what we'll be serving? Coconut bowls and a few other Amazebowls treats. But trust us, these coconut bowls sell out fast, so come early!

If you're trying to figure out what are the best options at the market to eat (and there are a lot!), check out these press links for some guidance + some notable Amazebowls mentions!

Chalkboard Mag

It's true, it's the year of the floral coconut bowl! The Chalkboard Mag invited us over for a day at their Pressed Juicery/Chalkboard Mag office space (if you didn't know, Pressed Juicery launched TCM!). We had such a fun time with their energetic, kind, and creative team. They did a feature on us on how to create your own açaí bowl bar. Trust us, it's definitely one to bookmark for the summer!

Amazebowls x Bon Puf

We love meeting brands with fantastic, unique products that taste just as good as they look. Enter Bon Puf. Cloe of Bon Puf is an entrepreneur, a go getter, and the kindest gal around. Bon Puf serves organic cotton candy with delicious signature flavors. We tried pineapple, watermelon, and horchata, and we couldn't stop eating it during the entire shoot!

Together, Amazebowls and Bon Puf created a few pairings with our acai bowls and Bon Puf's cotton candy. We believe in indulging once in awhile, and we love that we're able to do so while eating Amazebowls!

Thank you Cloe for a day of brainstorming, feeding us the best cotton candy around, and allowing us to create these beautiful bowls together!

The creative minds over at designlovefest never ceases to amaze us. We were lucky enough to provide coconut bowls for Bri Emery and the DLF team. We don't take it for granted when we get to go into work one day, and serve açaí bowls to one of our favorite bloggers. That's how the team felt when we were able to create our coconut açaí bowls to Joy Cho of Oh Joy! and her incredible team.

We had a blast serving the team. They are some of the kindest individuals around. Thanks for having us, Oh Joy!

Our BSKTS Debut at Unique LA markets!

The Unique LA Market this year was special for a variety of reasons. First, it's the first Unique LA Market we've ever done and we loved it! We're always in support of working with other small businesses and engaging in their talent and craft. Second, it was the launch and debut of our BSKTS!! But, let's backtrack just a bit...

For many months, we've been working hard to launch our newest venture: BSKTS. BSKTS are carefully crafted gift baskets with brands and partners who we strongly believe in. Many of the partners in our basket are more than just their product. They believe in using the best natural ingredients for edible products, or they believe in using their brand to promote a social good. For example, a portion of every Denik notebook goes to building schools with Pencils of Promise

At our Unique LA debut, we were so excited to share our project with the world and to showcase these wonderful brands. We were overjoyed with the feedback and to learn that many of these products are brands that Amazebowlers currently use or are as fond of them as we are!

Thank you to all those who bought a BSKT that weekend and allowing us to be a small part of helping you become a healthier and happier self. If you missed that weekend, don't worry! You can still buy a BSKT. Visit our site here to purchase: http://www.amazebowls.com/bskts/

It was a crazy two day event, but we were so happy to be a part of it. Thank you to Unique LA Markets for having us!

The Start of Coconut Acai Bowls + The Shop Up

Ever since our beautiful coconut acai bowl made it's grand debut to the world, we've received a lot questions about it's origins. When did it get started? How did the idea come up? How did you think of the toppings?

Well folks, all your answers to the questions above can be found right in this blog post.

We were excited when the coordinators at Pop Productions NYC asked us to provide breakfast for a few moms and bloggers at The Shop Up event in Los Angeles. The timing could not have been better, as the Amazebowls team was already thinking of a variety of creative ways to display our açaí bowls beyond just clear bowls.

The creation of our coconut acai bowl is simple. We wanted a bowl that was not only beautiful, but natural, edible, and compostable. We wanted the coconut to not distract our delicious açaí, but to complement it. Coconuts did just that. After trial and error of what toppings to use (edible flowers go with our natural theme!), learning to crack coconut (plus a few bruises), and understanding how to best place the toppings, we were ready to go to for The Shop Up.

We could not thank Pop Productions enough for their hospitality, support, and kindness. We were overwhelmed that day with the positive feedback we had from our guests. It's not just a beautiful product, but it tastes good too!
